Protocols for using First Nations Cultural and Intellectual Property in the Arts

This protocol guide, developed by the Australia Council endorses the rights of Indigenous people to their cultural heritage and supports Indigenous creative practice. This protocol guide encourages self-determination and helps build a strong and diverse Indigenous arts sector.

Aboriginal Arts and Culture Protocols

Create NSW has developed these Aboriginal Arts and Culture Protocols to give guidance and direction to the broader sector in the right way to work and do business with Aboriginal people and communities.

Prepare an Acknowledgment of Country Statement

A Welcome to Country is normally performed by an Elder of the local Indigenous language group. An Acknowledgment of Country can be performed in the absence of an Indigenous representative.

Reconciliation Australia

First stop for Aboriginal resources for museums.

Museums & Galleries of NSW is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW.

Museums & Galleries of NSW acknowledges the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation and all the other Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work. We pay respect to them as First Nations people with a continuing connection to land, place, waters and community.
