Welcome Gary Crockett

Gary Crockett

Now the Collections and Stories regional digitisation project is gaining traction we extend a warm welcome to Gary Crockett. Gary will work alongside Kate Gahan as Project Officer across all facets of the Collections and Stories project, this includes liaising with and between our regional digitisation project partners and Storytellers.

Gary brings to the role many years of experience in the museum sector, much of it gained while working as curator for Sydney Living Museums. Gary’s full non-work life has also fostered his love of place and stories.

'As a curator, I've produced content and managed collections and historic properties, made videos and worked on a bunch of exhibitions. When I'm not 'saving the world' as a culture warrior I'm sailing my old yacht, playing clawhammer banjo or catching waves north of Sydney. I have a 21 year old son called Charlie, and currently live in Sydney's inner west, on beautiful Wangal Country. At the moment, outside of my four day working week, Covid lockdown routines involve a daily stroll along the funky mangrove banks of the nearby Cooks River, a quick burn around the block on my motorbike, to get the adrenalin pumping, and a lot of SBS on Demand.

Collections and Stories, and the digitisation projects of our six regional partners, are funded by Create NSW through its Regional Cultural Fund.
