Curatorial & Programs Assistant
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Curatorial and Programs Assistant to join the team at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf on a permanent part-time basis.
Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf is a cultural hub that is well-loved by the community; a destination where all are welcome. A place where everyone can explore, discover and engage with the arts. The Gallery is home to Woollahra Council’s internationally acclaimed award for small sculpture; Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize.
Reporting to the Director of Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf, you will be responsible for the overall day-to-day front-of-house duties for the Gallery in an aim to connect Gallery visitors with art, artists, public programs and life-long learning. Some of your duties will include artwork customer service, sales management, volunteer coordination, artist liaison, and curatorial and public programs support.
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrated experience in gallery operations.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently without supervision.
- An enthusiastic and engaging approach to providing excellent customer service.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated time management, prioritisation and organisational skills.
- Experience in the delivery of events and programs.
- Competency in all MS Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Currently hold or willing and able to obtain a valid Working with Children Check.
- Currently hold or willing and able to obtain a First Aid Certificate and Responsible Service of Alcohol.
Desirable Criteria
- Bachelor Degree in Art History, Curatorial Studies, Fine Arts or a related discipline.
- Experience in working with volunteer programs.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Demonstrated point of sale experience.
