The University of Sydney Union has announced Tesha Malott as the new director of Verge Gallery.

Tesha Malott is an arts professional with a passion for supporting experimental and contemporary art practice in Australia and providing emerging, mid career and established artists possibilities in realising ambitious works. Tesha has recently finished a seven year tenure as the General Manager of Firstdraft, Australia’s longest artist-led initiative. An arts leader with a proven track record in artistic programming, fundraising, forming partnerships and event management, Tesha was a key member of the organisation through a period of extraordinary growth and during her term worked alongside, and mentored many of Australia’s leading emerging artists. Tesha is an alumni of the National Art School (BFA, printmaking) and UNSW Art & Design (Grad, Dip. Arts Administration).

Tesha will be taking over from Verge Gallery Director Siân McIntyre (2014-2018). During her tenure, Siân has delivered exhibition and public programming, overseeing the galleries renovation and expansion, introducing artist fees, and solidifying Verge Gallery’s position as a highly regarded critical and pedagogical space on the University of Sydney Campus. Siân is leaving Verge to begin a PhD and travel abroad, including a residency with Curatorial Program for Research.
