The Western Sydney Powerhouse Community Alliance Launches

“The Museum will deliver more than 4,000 direct and indirect jobs. At this time, more than ever, we must support projects that deliver employment opportunities for Western Sydney.”

– Christopher Brown, Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue

On Thursday 8 October, an Alliance of influential Western Sydney organisations and individuals announced their combined support of the Powerhouse Museum in Parramatta. The announcement was made by Christopher Brown, Chairman of the Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue, who stated “For too long, people from Eastern Sydney and a small minority of local opponents have been allowed to be the voice of Western Sydney on this issue. That ends today.”

The Alliance has written to the NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian, to endorse the new Powerhouse Museum in Parramatta, and to argue for the relocation of the heritage building Willow Grove (which is currently on the proposed site of the new museum).

Earlier today (Friday 9 October), it was announced that Willow Grove will indeed be relocated and restored at a site in North Parramatta.

“The site next to the Parramatta River is the best location that will ensure that milions of people are able to easily access the new facility each year.”
