2014 Gallery Grant recipients announced!

Curatorial Support Initiative

The NSW Government and Museums & Galleries of NSW are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2014 Curatorial Support Initiative.

The Curatorial Support Initiative (CSI) grant scheme offers regional public galleries in New South Wales assistance towards engaging a professional curator to research and develop a new exhibition of contemporary visual arts, craft and design for their community.

This year, five galleries will receive a combined total of $50,000 to support projects that will enhance their artistic program, extend public engagement with contemporary artistic practice and expand the professional skills of the curators and other professionals involved.

This year the recipients are:

  • Bathurst Regional Art Gallery who will engage curator Joanna Bayndrian
  • Manly Art Gallery & Museum who will engage curator Susan Ostling
  • Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre who will engage curator Louise Mitchell
  • Peacock Gallery & Arts Studio who will engage curator Nicole Barakat
  • Mosman Art Gallery who will enage curator Dr. Siobhan Campbell

Artist or Curator in Residence

The Copyright Agency Limited and Museums & Galleries of NSW are also pleased to announce the recipients of the 2014 Artist or Curator in Residence Grant.

The Artist or Curator in-Residence (ACR) Program, funded by the Copyright Agency Limited’s Cultural Fund and managed by Museums & Galleries NSW, offers financial assistance for regional galleries to engage established or emerging artists or curators to undertake a residency activity within their community. Through this support the program aims to encourage both the generation of, and engagement with, innovative and adventurous contemporary art in regional New South Wales.

Four recipients will each receive $11,250:

  • Cootamundra Creative Arts & Cultural Centre – to host a residency for artists Sarah Last and David Burraston
  • Blacktown Arts Centre – to host a residency for artist r e a
  • Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery, in partnership with National Art School Gallery – to host a residency for artist Linda Matalon
  • Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, in partnership with 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art – to host a residency for artist Amy Lee Sanford
