$90,199 – $101,022 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation

The Australian National Maritime Museum is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Foundation Manager to join our Partnerships team in this full-time, ongoing APS Level 6 position.
About The Role
The Foundation Manager will work to support the Foundation and guide the delivery of the Museum’s strategic objectives in relation to private giving, donor development and bequests.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who has the skills, experience and the enthusiasm to cultivate, steward, and strengthen the Museum’s philanthropic work and relationships, building the donor base and identifying and engaging donors through a regular program of events and activities. They will also look for opportunities to promote the benefits of giving, and of leaving a bequest to the Museum and build and maintains strategic relationships to increase the profile of the Museum and philanthropic support generally.
Key Accountabilities
Under limited direction, this position is responsible for delivering the following functions:
• Manage communication with the Museum’s benefactors and facilitate ongoing donor development.
• Implement and manage the production of communication and marketing material including cases for support, brochures, digital campaigns, web content and articles to engage, attract and retain supporters.
• Support the Museum’s Foundation and private giving programs (including acknowledgement and event management).
• Managing the processing of donations, financial administration and schedule for the Foundation, including regular reporting and payments to the Foundation and maintain up to date records via the Salesforce CRM.
• Developing, managing, recording via Salesforce CRM, and monitoring strategic relationships with donors with the aim of increasing awareness to support the museum through donations and bequests.
• Managing annual fundraising campaigns and inquiries.
• Drafting grant applications with internal stakeholders
• Prepare Board and Meeting Agenda, papers, and reports for the Foundation and the American Friends of the Australian National Maritime Museum.
• Supporting the collections/registrations team in administering the Museum’s acquisition of objects through the Cultural Gifts Scheme.
• Support Head of Corporate & Community Partnerships, Corporate Partnerships Manager and Community Partnerships Manager when required.
Selection Criteria
1. Experience in the philanthropic cultural sector and in-depth knowledge of the museum and gallery sector including knowledge of contemporary issues, legislation and standards affecting the Australian cultural landscape.
2. Demonstrated experience in donor, membership and event management and customer relationships within a contemporary cultural landscape.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and strategically with a diverse stakeholder and donor base to build support to achieve outcomes. Proven ability to initiate high-level reports and correspondence.
4. High-level negotiation presentation and influencing skills. Demonstrated experience in building and sustaining relationships and liaising with a range of stakeholders, including colleagues, other multidisciplinary teams, donors and patrons and culturally & linguistically diverse communities.
5. Knowledge and experience in Salesforce database management and analysis, including data collection and financial analysis.
Qualifications and/or relevant experience required

• Knowledge or appreciation of maritime history, industry and community
