Let’s Get Digital – Maitland Regional Gallery

With the support of Let’s Get Digital, Maitland Regional Art Gallery collaborated with regional artists to develop a series of online learning resources to complement the exhibition Barka, the Forgotten River, a collaboration between Badger Bates, Justine Muller and the Wilcannia Community.

Maitland Regional Art Gallery employed Wilcannia artist Badger Bates, Central Coast artist Justine Muller, Broken Hill videographer Aimee Volkofsky, Hunter region artist Liss Finney and videographer Toby Tull to work on the project. They created a virtual tour which intertwined the voice of the Wilcannia community with works on display in the exhibition. The gallery collaborated with Hunter Local Land Services to amplify the concerns and creativity of local students by embedding collaborative resources made by the students within the exhibition. The gallery worked with Justine Muller, to create an exhibition Art Trail, and Liss Finney to create additional art activity sheets which deepened the connections visitors made with the exhibition. To support these resources Maitland Regional Art Gallery upgraded its website which has built a stronger digital profile for the gallery and enhanced opportunities for audiences to engage with the exhibition.

MGNSW has shared samples from the content supported by Let’s Get Digital on this page, we encourage you to visit the Maitland Regional Art Gallery website to learn more about the exhibition.
