Have you ever wondered how a Museum with half a million objects manages their collection? From hairpins to horse-drawn vehicles, the Powerhouse Registration team are responsible for the acquisition, documentation and ongoing management of a diverse collection of objects. Led by Powerhouse Registrar Naomi Boult, this workshop will introduce participants to the museum’s best practice approach to caring for the collection, with a focus on acquisition processes, object cataloguing and legal documentation.
Designed for staff and volunteers of small museums and the collecting sector. The workshop will be followed by a light lunch and a one-hour tour of I Store led by a Powerhouse Registrar. The I Store is a purpose-built storage facility for small to medium-sized objects. Participants on this tour will find out more about how this facility was designed to house objects for optimum management and storage conditions.
