Beyond the Walls – Identifying Decision Makers during Disasters

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
21 Oct 2021.

AICCM is pleased to offer a new workshop, in collaboration with Dr Dolapo (Dolas) Fakuade, titled ‘Beyond the walls: Identifying decision making during disasters’. This workshop is an excellent opportunity for all those in heritage fields and allied professionals to learn about capacity building in disaster preparation and response.

Dr Fakuade has extensive experience in disaster management response and resilience, including working with the Otago Civil Defence and the Christchurch Art Gallery to develop an Emergency Management framework. This experience is the focus of the workshop, looking at why, who and how we engage during community-wide disasters.

This workshop is for anyone who cares for cultural heritage and wishes to develop an understanding of unanticipated and emerging risks, identify and develop critical relationships and roles during catastrophic events and ultimately create better disaster preparedness and response for our cultural heritage.

We encourage conservators to reach out to their building and facility managers to attend the workshop jointly. We warmly encourage regional and remote collection managers, registrars and custodians of cultural heritage to register.

Details:
Workshop will be delivered online through Zoom.
The workshop is limited to 50 participants.
Costs: $50 for AICCM Members, $35 for students (limited to 5), $70 for non-AICCM members.
