Imagine Award 2012

Grammy, Emmy, Toni, Oscar? No, it’s the IMAGinE Awards!

The annual IMAGinE awards is the red carpet event of the museums and galleries industry in NSW.

This Friday, the red carpet will be rolled out in front of the Heroes and Legends Rugby League Museum next to the Allianz Stadium. Stepping from limos and trailing the latest couture will be representatives from the smallest of volunteer museums to the largest cultural institutions in the State.

They come from far and wide across the state focusing our attention on all manner of stories; documenting our lives, our deaths and everything in between.

Heroes and Legends is an apt place to host this event. The gala evening celebrates the work of the heroes and legends of your local, regional gallery or favourite museum. Many of them volunteers, some with minimal staff and most of them working with limited funds and resources, this year’s awards present more than 65 nominations, each one a success story in their ongoing commitment to making your museum or gallery visit better, brighter and more enjoyable.

The awards celebrate a cross-section of the creative vibrancy of the sector–those connecting with each other as institutions, partnering with their communities to tell stories, show art and keep our histories safe. They come from far and wide across the state–from Broken Hill to Bega, Griffith to Goulburn–focusing our attention on all manner of stories; documenting our lives, our deaths and everything in between.

Winners will be announced after weeks of nail-biting anticipation and will get their chance on the podium, acknowledged by their peers for their hard work, innovation and ingenuity and their contributions to the industry that go far beyond the expected.
