Susi Muddiman continues to collect accolades for her outstanding work as Director of Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre. Named on Monday as a recipient of the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2015 Australia Day honours list, Muddiman is starting 2015 on the ultimate career high.

Working as Director of Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre for the past seven years and previously as Director at Wagga Wagga Art Gallery from 2003 to 2007 and as Director of Grafton Regional Gallery from 1997 to 2003, Muddiman has been recognised For service to the museums and galleries sector in regional New South Wales.

Muddiman is however most well known for her central role in securing support from the Margaret Olley Art Trust for the relocation of Margaret Olley’s Paddington studio to a purpose built gallery extension at Tweed Regional Gallery. The painstaking process saw Tweed Regional Gallery secure funding for over 20,000 objects from Olley’s home and studio to be transported and meticulously reinstated within an architecturally designed re-creation at the Tweed gallery.

2014 saw the successful opening of the highly anticipated $4 million Margaret Olley Art Centre in March and was capped off with the gallery and Muddiman taking home a stack of well-deserved awards, including a Museum & Galleries of NSW IMAGinE award and Local Government Art and Cultural Award.

With the one year anniversary for the opening of this highly ambitious project approaching, the gallery will celebrate with a variety of exhibitions, events and activities throughout February and March.
