This suite of fantastic new work was generated through the funding program called the Artist or Curator Residency grant (ACR), supported by the Copyright Agency Limited’s Cultural Fund. On the hunt for innovative new projects for 2015, the grant is now open and eagerly awaiting your applications!
This suite of fantastic new work was generated through the funding program called the Artist or Curator Residency grant.
A targeted program for regional public galleries across Australia, the ACR grant offers the opportunity for galleries to engage established artists or curators to undertake a residency activity within their community. It provides artists or curators with the time and space to research, create and develop adventurous contemporary art in regional Australia.
M&G NSW also administers the Curatorial Support Initiative (CSI) funded by Arts NSW. This grant has been behind some of the most interesting regional exhibitions. Our CSI’s have seen the development of the Lacebook exhibition at Peacock Gallery & Auburn Arts Studio and The Feminine Optic: Perspectives on the landscape at Tamworth Regional Gallery and it’s also open for submissions right now!
Over the past two years, the CSI program has supported the development of more than seven exhibitions, with five more currently underway. Offering NSW regional public galleries assistance towards engaging a professional curator–emerging or established–to research and develop a new exhibition of contemporary visual arts, craft and design for a nominated community.
These funding opportunities enhance an organisation’s artistic program, extends public engagement with contemporary artistic practice and expands the professional skills of the curators, artists and all parties involved.
Both schemes are seeking submissions from galleries for projects in 2015.
