Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre

Fitzroy Falls is a magnificent waterfall located in the Southern Highlands of NSW, within Morton National Park. It is a gateway to Morton National Park which is the 5th largest national park in NSW. The waterfall is accessible from the Southern Highlands and Kangaroo Valley being on a popular tourist drive through the Southern Highlands and the majestic mountains of Kangaroo Valley. The Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre is a National Parks and Wildlife Service Visitor Facility managed by the Department of Environment and Climate Change – NSW State Government.

Each year 250,000 local and international visitors enjoy the well presented Environmentally Friendly Visitor Centre. The centre is designed on Eco-Tourism principals using environmentally friendly building materials including recycled bridge timbers and local Bundanoon sandstone.

Visitors enjoy extensive bushwalks around the waterfall encountering many beautiful native plants and animals, including the musical Lyrebird that is regularly sighted on the walk to the Falls. The visitor centre provides visitors with a window into the National Parks of NSW and the local area, providing interesting up to date information on all things environmental.

An Eco-Tourism principal of involving local artists/craftspeople and small cottage industries of the Southern Highlands and South Coast Region to exhibit work at the centre, provides the visitor with the opportunity to enjoy and purchase local products including photography and ceramics that are displayed and changed monthly.

Each September, a wide variety of presentations are hosted for Biodiversity Month and Threatened Species Day including Friends BTRW, Higher Ground, Raptor Rehabilitation, Bundanoon Wombat Care, Glossies in the Mist, Quollidoors Project, Orchid specialists, Southern Highlands Koala Project, Rainforest Ecology, Frog Consultant, Shoalhaven Bat Clinic and FF Spiny Crayfish. Authors are also hosted throughout the year for public book readings and signings, as well as some art exhibitions by local artists.
