Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney’s The Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land – the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.
The Gallery attracts around 1 million visitors annually and runs Australia’s largest education program with over 90,000 student and teacher visits per year.
With our expanded campus recent opening the Gallery has a new state-of-the-art building located next to our existing and much-loved building. Providing us with close to double the exhibition space, the expanded Gallery enables us to share more art with more people and provide more family, learning and educational programming for all our audiences.

About the Role
The purpose of this role is to deliver allocated touring exhibitions from the Art Gallery’s collection and exhibition program, from initial concept through all stages of planning, to successful realisation at metropolitan and regional galleries in NSW and across Australia.
This role facilitates exhibition teams to realise the concept and presentation of agreed exhibitions and ensures that human and financial resources are responsibly managed for each assigned project. This role negotiates, manages and monitors the contractual obligations for allocated Art Gallery touring exhibitions.
We are seeking an experienced exhibition coordinator with an extensive track record in managing touring exhibitions and working with tour venue stakeholders.

What technical / soft skills you require
1. Appropriate tertiary qualification or relevant, equivalent professional experience.
2. Extensive touring exhibition project management experience including itinerary development and negotiation, budgeting, negotiating and managing contracts, risk assessments, resourcing and logistical planning, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
3. Working knowledge of exhibition design, construction and installation, experience working with tour venue stakeholders, designers and technical staff to resolve display issues.
4. Experience using project management software and museum specific relational databases
5. High level communication with strong facilitation, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
6. Current driver’s license

2. Provide an example of how you used your organisational skills to manage multiple touring exhibition projects with conflicting priorities and deadlines, successfully meeting the expectations of all stakeholders. (300 words)
