Museum Curator
What we’re looking for
MMP is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Museum Curator to join our team in a part-time capacity.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Museum Curator will be responsible for the development, maintenance, care and interpretation of the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions, ensuring alignment with the mission and values of Mary MacKillop Place. Working collaboratively with the Museum Educator, SOSJ Museums Collections Project Officer, the SOSJ Museum Collections Manager and stakeholders, the Curator will engage audiences through thoughtful storytelling, research, and creative presentation of the collection.
Selection Criteria
Essential
• Tertiary qualification in Museum Studies, History, Cultural Heritage, or a related field.
• At least 3 years’ experience in a curatorial or collections role.
• Strong research and interpretive writing skills.
• Experience with collection management systems and exhibition planning.
• Knowledge of conservation practices and collection care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Desirable
• Knowledge of or interest in the life of Saint Mary MacKillop and the history of the Sisters of Saint Joseph.
• Experience working in a faith-based, education and pilgrimage context.
