Casual Gallery Officer
Are you passionate about the arts and love engaging with the community? Shoalhaven Regional Gallery is seeking dynamic and customer-focused individuals to join our team as Casual Gallery Officers. Reporting directly to the Gallery Director, this role involves coordinating launches and events, supporting cultural protocols including Welcome to Country and Acknowledgments of Country, and liaising with artists during exhibition installations and de-installations. You’ll also oversee gallery operations such as bookings, maintenance, cash handling, and shop management—including stock coordination and inventory tracking. Strong administrative skills are essential, as you’ll be preparing correspondence, reports, project briefs, and other documentation.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need a Diploma-level qualification in Arts, Marketing, Arts Education or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. You should have demonstrated experience in arts and cultural facility operations or gallery support programs, along with a Class C Driver’s Licence and current First Aid and RSA Certificates (or the ability to obtain them within three months). Proof of Australian residency or citizenship is required, as is a current NSW Working with Children Check.
We’re looking for a welcoming and culturally aware individual who thrives in a front-of-house environment, is highly organised and proactive, and enjoys juggling diverse responsibilities. Exceptional customer service, teamwork, and communication skills are essential, as is a commitment to Shoalhaven City Council’s core values of Respect, Integrity, Adaptability, and Collaboration. To apply, click “Apply” and complete each step of the application, including attaching your resume and responding to the essential criteria questions.
