Mosman Art Gallery (MAG) is an active and widely respected public gallery and is the major visual arts centre of the Northern Sydney region (home to approximately 850,000 people).
In the fifteen years since its establishment as a regional gallery, MAG has presented over 200 exhibitions, averaging between 10 -14 exhibitions per year. MAG has experience touring exhibitions, having toured projects both regionally, nationally and internationally.
Each year the Gallery manages significant arts events such as the Mosman Art Prize, the major open painting prize in Australia, attracting around 900 entries annually. The work of MAG is of the highest standard and of critical importance to the NSW arts industry. In recent years MAG has been the recipient of multiple industry based awards including national awards for exhibition and design, as well as NSW awards for public programming major events and Indigenous programming.
Over 80,000 people attend MAG exhibitions and events annually, with 4,500 school children participating in arts workshops at the Gallery. MAG presented approximately 100 separate public program events in 2012/13. MAG has a highly skilled staff with experience in managing artist residency programs, promoting events, exploring new media opportunities, developing cultural industry opportunities and expanding philanthropy.
