Organisation Overview
The National Trust of Australia (New South Wales) is Australia’s leading heritage conservation organisation, a not-for-profit, community-based charity in operation for more than 75 years. Our vision is to bring the heritage of New South Wales to life for future generations through advocating for the conservation and protection of our built, cultural and natural heritage.
Located in Dubbo, Dundullimal Homestead is a stunning example of a rural 1840s homestead complete with main house, outbuildings, chapel and gardens.
We’re looking for an energetic Duty Manager with a track record of delivering high quality, visitor-centric customer service to manage the daily visitor activities at this high-profile property and work with our wonderful team of volunteers to create an experience for our visitors which is both welcoming, inclusive and enables them to get the most out of their visit.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Visitor Experience and Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Overseeing and managing the daily operations of Dundullimal admissions, reception and bookings team processes, when the property is open.
- Coordinating all visitor activities on site including tours, venue hire and events
- Leading, motivating and supporting the volunteers working onsite, in the delivery of public programs or as guides, front of house, tearoom or event facilitators, to deliver an exceptional visitor experience.
- Acting as the point of contact and coordination for third party event operators and weekend venue hires on site, including installation and bump out.
- Carrying out routine administrative tasks including the reconciliation of monies, control of petty cash, stock control and answering public enquiries.
- Assisting in the tearoom as required.
- Managing response to incidents as they arise.
About you
- You’ve run a team of customer-focused staff before and can lead and motivate them to perform at their best.
- You’ve delivered events before and can manage multi-layered activities with confidence and composure.
- You will be flexible enough to deal with the myriad of things that comes with operating a historic property that is open to the public.
- Ideally, you will have had some experience in working with communities, tourism, hospitality or the cultural sector and know your way around a commercial coffee machine.
We’re looking for someone who truly believes in exceptional customer service, can run an event or tearoom like clockwork and knows the value of teamwork. We offer a flexible work environment and value the highest levels of professionalism.
You must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this job.
