
Museums & Galleries of NSW congratulates the successful applicants in the 2025 Project Development Grants and the second round of the Volunteer Museum Small Grants.
This round of Project Development Grants attracted a strong field of applications, with projects focused on exhibition development, research, digitisation and strategic planning. Each submission demonstrated the commitment and passion volunteers bring to their museums and communities.
The second round of Volunteer Museum Small Grants also received a high number of quality applications, supporting projects focused on storage, collection care, exhibition development and digitisation.
The Volunteer Museum Grant Program is a Create NSW devolved funding program, administered by Museums & Galleries of NSW on behalf of the NSW Government.
The successful Project Development Grants recipients were:
Coolamon Up-To-Date Store
$7,150 – To implement a new strategic plan developed for the Up-To-Date Store Cultural & Learning Precinct.
Eugowra Historical Museum and Bushranger Centre
$7,500 – For the conservation of the Rakali Coat from Eugowra 2023 flood damage.
Iluka & Districts Museum
$7,330 – To research and script a 10-12 minute video exploring the forest’s microclimate at the mouth of the Clarence River and its multifaceted cultural and social history.
Miss Traill’s House & Garden
$5,538.89 – To train a volunteer in Vernon CMS Basic Skills and purchase photography equipment to commence a collection digitisation project.
Harden Murrumburrah
$3,600 – To engage with a consultant and work in collaboration with Society members, to review the Collections Policy and develop a Strategic Plan.
Yamba Museum
$5,700 – To engage researcher to investigate diverse stories and significance behind these objects, informing a revamp of current exhibitions.
The successful Small Grants Round 2 recipients were:
Appin Historical Society Museum
$1631.50 – To purchase a range of archival storage materials.
Berry Museum
$544 – To provide shelving for items in the Museum in a new storage room.
Braidwood Museum
$1,959 – To supply the museum with archival supplies to facilitate proper storage of objects in the collection.
Kempsey Museum
$799 – The purchase of a freezer to be used on appropriate artefacts donated to the collection, where there is a risk that the items donated are infested with pests.
Lithgow State Mine Heritage Park
$2,000 – To replace two display cases with larger cabinets made from materials more suitable for museum conservation and interpretation.
Narrandera Parkside Cottage Museum
$1,997.23 – To purchase equipment to enable the establishment of a digitisation hub on site.
Scone Museum
$1,690 – To purchase archival protection for conservation of the Museum’s historical framed portraits of locally significant identities and storing historical items especially heritage clothing textiles.
Sir Edgeworth David Memorial Museum
$1842.79 – To replace cardboard magazine holders in the library with plastic holders.
Yass & District Museum
$1590.91 – To provide additional good quality shelving for the Yass and District Historical Society’s growing collection of locally and nationally significant items.
Yeoval Historical & Family Museum – O’Hallorans Cottage
$1481 – To protect and preserve Cobb & Co vestige Wooden, Hand Hewn Horse Feed Mangers and Hay Feeder.
Young Historical Museum
$1172.99 – The project is to enhance the interpretive displays at the Young Historical Museum by installing two shadow boxes and three flipbooks.
