Museum Collections Officer

We are seeking suitable applicants with strong collection care expertise to ensure the Broken Hill City Council’s Albert Kersten Mining & Minerals Museum (GeoCentre) collection is managed to the highest museum standards. The role is responsible for the preservation, documentation, cataloguing and ongoing stewardship of the collection in line with recognised museum best practices. Including preventative conservation, accurate collection recording and ethical collection management. The position will also support science communication by fostering public understanding of Broken Hill’s geological, mineralogical, mining, and metallurgical histories.

Reporting directly to the Gallery & Museum Manager, you will ensure the collections of the Albert Kersten Mining & Minerals Museum are easily accessible through best practice collection management. You will play a vital role in developing the procedures, protocols and workflows for collection management and contribute to the Museum’s ongoing planning.
