Gallery Forbes

Gallery Forbes is scheduled to open in early 2023.

The Forbes Arts Society purchased the former Forbes and District Ambulance Station at 110 Lachlan Street, Forbes in December 2019. The site will be developed into a vibrant, civic hub. A space that encourages locals and visitors to create, share and experience art and culture as well as meet, gather and connect with one another.

The prominent two-storey building is set to house expanded art galleries, meeting rooms, workshop and event spaces, and a café. The design incorporates sustainable features, is fully accessible and includes a lush courtyard to become a local gathering point. The design is an adaptive reuse of this prominent local building – sensitive to the site’s Local Heritage Significance status, whilst incorporating a beautiful yet functional contemporary extension.

Gallery Forbes will also be the starting point for the Sculpture Down the Lachlan trail – a permanent, inland public art trail stretching 100 kilometres between Forbes and Condobolin, along the meandering Lachlan River. Featuring over twenty large-scale sculptures by some of Australia’s leading creatives. Nestled among nature, waiting to be discovered.
