Learn – Barbara Cleveland | Thinking Business
Alongside their development of Barbara Cleveland’s survey exhibition Thinking Business, Goulburn Regional Art Gallery produced an engaging Education Kit and presented a suite of digital programs aimed at young people.
Moving to Performance
Moving to Performance with Pauline Mullen is a learning program aligned with Thinking Business, an exhibition of performance-based video works by the all female artist collaborative, Barbara Cleveland. Their work is wonderfully sensitive in the way it navigates concepts of the body, time, friendship, art history and gender stereotypes from queer and female perspectives. Set amongst a theatrical and colourful installation, the work calls for new and innovative opportunities for our audiences to experience contemporary art. Pauline is a local yoga and melt instructor with theatre and performance experience, and has created the following five engagement videos to help audiences explore the themes within Thinking Business from anywhere. Production by Sum of Infinity.
Use props and simple stage makeup to perform some fun voice warm-ups and face yoga centred on the work Performance art (15 actions for the face), 2014
Explore what is funny and what misses the mark though performance based activities using fun props to create crazy characters inspired by Bad Timing, 2017
Play some fun performance based games including ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf?’, ‘Hatch the Egg’ and yarn bomb the courtyard in response to Work in Progress: Dawn till Dusk, 2010
