Berrima Courthouse Museum

Visitors can capture the feeling of this old building and visualise the many hundreds of people brought before its bench: hoteliers petitioning for licenses; litigants seeking mediation for disputes; escaped convicts and notorious bushrangers, cattle stealers, sly grog sellers, thieves, and murderers brought to justice, many to end their days in the forbidding walls of the prison next door. 

As you take the tour through this magnificent building you will view the audio-visual The Berrima Story chronicling the development of the village from the 1830s to infamous prison to present day. Highlights of the collection include over 100 photos depicting the story of Berrima including the German internees held here during World War 1.

The Berrima Courthouse and it’s conservation programs are funded by visitors and profit from retail sales in the Petty Jurors book and souvenir shop.
