POSITION TITLE: Sales Associate (Maternity cover)
HOURS: Tuesday to Saturday 9am to 5pm, with presence at evening events and art fairs as required
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 6 month full-time contract, commencing January 2026
SALARY: Commensurate with experience plus 12% superannuation

Sullivan+Strumpf is a leading contemporary commercial gallery representing a diverse range of emerging and established artists from Asia, Australia and the Pacific region.
The gallery was founded, by co-directors Ursula Sullivan and Joanna Strumpf in 2005. Sullivan+Strumpf works across a broad geographical region with art exhibitions, museums, major art fairs, publications and audience engagement programmes. Sullivan+Strumpf has proudly helped foster the careers of some of the most significant contemporary artists in the region and remains dedicated to supporting artists to realise their visions and forge long-term artistic careers.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Sullivan+Strumpf is seeking an experienced, solutions- oriented Sales Associate for our Sydney gallery. It is an exciting time to join the gallery as we embark on a period of growth and achieve significant milestones.
Reporting to the Directors, this is an integral role is responsible for supporting the Directors with sales, managing existing clients as well as developing new client relationships, in addition to the care and promotion of Sullivan+Strumpf artists.
The chosen candidate will have exceptional attention to detail and be highly organised, takes initiative and is able to performa multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining flexibility, patience, and a positive and courteous attitude. As a Sales Assiociate, they will support the Directors, staff, and artists to achieve their shared artistic, creative, and business goals.
This is a full-time position, 9am to 5pm Tuesday to Saturday, with presence at some evening events required.
Essential Requirements
– 2-5 years’ experience in a museum or gallery.
– Ability to work independently with initiative, or in a team, and the ability to communicate with a variety of people.
– Excellent communication skills, including excellent written and spoken expression.
– Strong organisation and project management skills.
– A love of communicating, supporting, and achieving results for our artists.
– Full driver’s license.
Key Responsibilities
– Communicate between directors and staff and foster a positive workplace culture.
– Manage a range of artist related events, included private functions and art fairs.
– Plan and prioritize sales activities and contact.
– Seek out new client/artist opportunities from a broad range of sources.
– Represent the gallery at sector events.
– Assist the team with the practical delivery of artistic projects and outcomes as required.
– Work with the team to develop strategies and goals for our clients and artists.
