Museums Coordinator

Are you passionate about supporting small to medium museums and collections in NSW? Do you enjoy working with both professional and volunteer staff to strengthen the museum sector?
Museums & Galleries of NSW is seeking a Museums Coordinator to support the Sector Development Manager in delivering programs, funding opportunities, and professional development for the small to medium museums sector in NSW, with a strong focus on the volunteer sector.
As part of this team, you will coordinate the delivery of the Standards Program, oversee the Volunteer Museum Grants program, support the Storyplace project, contribute to sector professional development activities, and help strengthen the connections and skills of museums across NSW.

M&G NSW works with museums, galleries and Aboriginal cultural centres throughout NSW to create exciting and inspiring experiences for visitors and strong, thriving local communities. We develop their skills, connect them with others in the industry, provide funding, point visitors their way, and give them access to ground-breaking exhibitions.
M&G NSW runs the largest touring program of contemporary visual culture in NSW, delivering the best Australian visual art to regional, remote and metropolitan audiences through the comprehensive network of public galleries and museums Australia wide.
Our key focus is the 500+ small to medium sized organisations in NSW that have the passion to inspire their communities and visitors through art, artefacts, stories and ideas.
Core Knowledge and Experience Required
- Tertiary degree in Museum Studies (or related field) or equivalent experience working in the museum sector (paid or unpaid)
- Excellent organisational skills with demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent public speaking/presentation skills
- Experience in planning, scheduling, and running meetings
- Ability to work with both professional and volunteer staff in museums and galleries throughout NSW and beyond
- Working knowledge and understanding of museum and collection sector practices, issues, and priorities
- Project coordination and budget monitoring experience with the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent computer skills including word processing, database, web, and publication design programs
- Ability to travel to other locations as required
- NSW Driver’s License
Conditions of Employment
- Full time (35 hours/week)
- Flexible work arrangements in line with M&G NSW Work from Home policy or as mutually agreed

Remuneration package $79,928 p.a. including 12% employer superannuation contribution
