The Australian National Maritime Museum is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Officer to join the Facilities team in a full-time ongoing role.

The successful candidate will contribute to delivering strategic priorities, enhancing organisational capability, and helping create outstanding experiences for visitors, communities, and stakeholders. Working collaboratively across the Museum, you will play an important role in shaping outcomes, driving innovation, and supporting the Museum’s vision for the future.
As the Facilities Maintenance Officer, you will be at the centre of ensuring the Museum’s facilities, equipment and non-collection assets are maintained to a high standard and ready to support daily operations, special events and exhibitions. This diverse role offers a unique blend of hands-on maintenance, asset management and operational coordination, providing the opportunity to contribute across a wide range of activities and projects.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will coordinate maintenance works, manage asset movements and storage, oversee offsite warehouse operations, and collaborate with staff, contractors and service providers to deliver effective facilities solutions. You will play a key role in maintaining safe, functional and efficient environments across Museum sites, while identifying opportunities to improve processes and enhance service delivery.

Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will demonstrate their capacity against the following:
- Demonstrated experience in facilities management, maintenance, asset management or operational support services with the ability to deliver effective operational outcomes.
- Proven ability to coordinate maintenance and operational activities, manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgement and deliver quality outcomes with limited supervision.
- Sound knowledge of work health and safety requirements and safe work practices with a demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant workplace.
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships, provide practical advice and support, and effectively liaise with staff, contractors and service providers.
- Demonstrated experience in asset management, logistics, warehouse operations or contractor coordination, supported by strong administrative, record-keeping and organisational skills.
