Coordinator, Collection Acquisition & Curation
This is a pivotal role focused on the acquisition, interpretation, and promotion of the Library’s collections, with a particular emphasis on manuscript materials. As Coordinator, Collection Acquisition and Curation, you will lead a dedicated team within the Collection Acquisition & Curation Branch, shaping the Library’s collections to meet the needs of readers and researchers. The Collection Acquisition & Curation Branch sits within the Library Services Division, which is committed to delivering high-quality reader services, preserving collections for future generations, and fostering innovation and collaboration across the Library and with external partners.
The Ideal Candidate
You are a passionate and experienced library or museum professional with a strong background in collection development and management principles in a library or similar cultural context. You bring:
- Deep knowledge of Australian history, particularly in the context of historical and contemporary manuscripts.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to navigate complex acquisition scenarios, and donor or vendor relationships and expectations.
- Proven leadership experience, with a collaborative and supportive management style.
- Strong research and writing skills, capable of producing high-quality interpretive content.
- A strategic mindset and commitment to continuous improvement in collection practices, and to working with colleagues to achieve the Library’s strategic vision.
- Experience working with digital collection strategies and collection management systems.
