Communications and Engagement Manager
The Communications and Engagement Manager is responsible for amplifying the Firstdraft brand and its activities to both existing and new audiences. At its core, the role centres on communicating how Firstdraft works, telling our story, and championing the artists with whom we collaborate. You will ensure our work is effectively communicated to our diverse community while proactively finding new opportunities to connect with broad and untapped audiences.
In 2026, Firstdraft celebrates its fortieth anniversary, a significant milestone. As we approach this moment, we are seeking a highly skilled, self-reliant and creative communications professional to promote our rich history, build a compelling, fit-for-purpose communications strategy and lead a vibrant social media campaign. The Communications and Engagement Manager will play a critical role in bringing together our extensive community, diving into the archive to highlight exemplary moments from our past, and positioning Firstdraft for its next chapter. This position is key in communicating our fundraising and development initiatives throughout the year, and in connecting Firstdraft with potential partners, sponsors and donors through strategic promotional campaigns.
This role offers the opportunity to have creative control and freedom over Firstdraft communications and engagement strategies while working closely with artists and our small team. The successful candidate will be responsible for content creation, social media and website management, marketing, drafting and issuing media releases and the promotion of exhibitions and events. They will play an essential role in pitching, crafting and delivering engagement material, including public programs.
