2023 Small Grants Round 1 Recipients Announced

Museums & Galleries of NSW would like to congratulate the successful applicants for our Round 1 Small Grants for 2023.

In this round, we received applications for projects that focused on exhibition development, collection care and collection management. Each project submitted in this round demonstrates the dedication and commitment the volunteers have for their museums.

The Volunteer Museum Grant Program is a Create NSW devolved funding program, administered by Museums & Galleries of NSW on behalf of the NSW Government.

The successful Small Grants Round 1 applicants were:

Australian Museum of Clothing and Textiles Inc
$ 1,247.50 – To purchase Storage Racks for the Museum of Clothing

Kangaroo Valley Pioneer Village Museum
$ 1,995.00 – To Purchase two new glass display cabinets in restored room.

Kandos Museum
$ 1,540.02 – To pay for the Conservation of c.1920 Kandos Colliery Plan and conservation materials

Nowra Museum
$ 1,031.00 – To purchase archival storage for historic artefacts

St Clair Museum
$ 2,000.00 – To purchase display equipment for St Clair Museum of Goulburn following its major conservation treatment

Outback Mosque Museum, Broken Hill
$ 1,794.60  – To purchase two iPads to integrate digitised photographs, sensory recordings, and oral histories into the new ‘Call to Prayer’ display at the Broken Hill

Sulphide Street Railway & Historical Museum
$ 297.27 – To present the oral history of Broken Hill migrants, nurses and railwaymen through sensor motion.

Montreal Goldfield Wallaga Lake Inc
$ 1,279.30 – To engage a professional sign writer to construct panels of historical information along the Montreal Goldfield pathway.

Gerringong Heritage Museum
$ 1,996.90 – To purchase museum grade containers and materials to preserve and conserve fragile documents currently

Tumbarumba Historical Society – Rail Trail
$ 1,584.01 – To purchase and install solar powered lighting system for a history display in a restored guard van

New Italy Museum
$ 1,708.00 – To engage Museum professional, to undertake the update of the New Italy Museum Collection Policy

Pilot’s Cottage Museum at Blowhole Point, Kiama
$ 1,129.10 – To make the museum easier to find and to attract more casual visitors through new signage, and to produce written marketing material to attract both visitors and local people

Gilgandra Museum
$ 1,818.00 – To update and renew Gilgandra Museum Signage
