Gallery Host
Gallery Hosts are the first point of contact for visitors to the MCA. Their role is to welcome all visitors to the Museum and ensure the safety of both the visitors and artworks.
Gallery Hosts enrich our visitors’ experience by providing high-level customer service in a friendly, welcoming and inclusive manner. They play a key role in promoting all MCA’s activities to enrich visitor’s experience of the MCA, such as exhibitions, public and learning programs, events, MCA Store, Café at Tallawoladah and Canvas Restaurant. They operate ticketing desk and sell membership. They play a key role in telling the MCA’s story as a non-government, self-funded Museum.
Gallery Hosts provide a cloakroom service and assist visitors with navigating and making the most of their experience at the Museum; they gather visitors’ feedback and complete reporting on gallery incidents. Additionally, Gallery Hosts need confidence in delivering short, engaging talks about artworks to both small and large groups.
An MCA Gallery Host has a genuine desire to provide excellent customer service. They enhance our visitors’ experience of the MCA by always exhibiting professionalism. They use their outstanding interpersonal skills and judgement to support visitors and reinforce gallery guidelines.
This is a mobile, active role and it involves being on your feet for the duration of the shift. A good level of physical fitness is essential (MCA will consider workplace adjustments to enable an employee with disability/access need to perform the role).
