Counting visitors is easy, understanding your impact is more of a challenge.

Many museums and galleries want to move beyond basic attendance figures, but limited time, budgets and practical tools often stand in the way. This highly practical 2-hour workshop, hosted by the Museum and Heritage Studies program at the University of Sydney, will show you how to change that.

Through a concise introduction to evaluation methods and hands-on activities, you’ll explore simple, low-cost ways to capture meaningful visitor impact without adding heavy workload. We’ll share tested tools, and adaptable approaches that work in resourceconstrained environments. Together, we’ll focus on:

  • Moving beyond attendance metrics to meaningful insights
  • Identifying what “impact” means for your institution
  • Applying easy-to-use, sustainable evaluation methods
  • Turning data into clear, compelling impact narratives

Bring your own project or challenge; there will be dedicated time to workshop your ideas, ask questions and get feedback.

Leave with practical techniques you can implement immediately to visualise and communicate your impact with confidence.
