The Port Macquarie Museum has been awarded Bronze in the Cultural Tourism category at the Australian Tourism Awards, recognising it as one of the nation’s top cultural attractions. Announced on 21 March 2025 in Adelaide, the awards celebrate excellence in tourism across Australia.

This recognition follows the museum’s Gold win at the NSW Tourism Awards in 2024, highlighting its dedication to preserving and sharing Port Macquarie’s rich history. The museum offers visitors a deep dive into the stories that have shaped the region through immersive exhibitions and carefully curated collections.

“We are thrilled to be recognised on a national stage,” said Museum Curator, Debbie Sommers. “This reflects the hard work of our team and the incredible support from our community. We’re proud to contribute to Port Macquarie’s growing reputation as a cultural destination.”

The Australian Tourism Awards acknowledge outstanding experiences across the tourism industry. Being named a finalist placed the Port Macquarie Museum among Australia’s leading cultural tourism attractions. The awards ceremony brought together industry leaders and offered finalists the chance to showcase their work on a national scale.

For locals and visitors alike, the Port Macquarie Museum continues to be a must-visit destination. Located in Port Macquarie’s cultural precinct at 22 Clarence Street, the museum is open Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm. Admission fees contribute to the museum’s operations, helping to preserve its heritage-listed Store building and collections as part of an independent, not-for-profit organisation.
