Last week The Aboriginal Culture, Heritage and Arts Association of NSW (ACHAA) hosted its annual conference at Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre, on Gumbaynggirr Country at Corindi Beach.

The conference program included presentations on funding and opportunities for Aboriginal cultural centres in NSW, updates on Indigenous copyright and intellectual property rights, discussions on advocacy and policy, strategic planning activities, campfire creation stories, and Aboriginal art lessons.

 It was fantastic to have so many ACHAA member organisations represented, with delegates from Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative, Armidale Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Dunghutti-Ngaku Aboriginal Art Gallery, Dharriwaa Elders Group, Twofold Aboriginal Corporation, Minjungbal Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Muru Mittigar Cultural Centre, Wungunja Cultural Centre, and Yarkuwa Indigenous Knowledge Centre.

 Big congratulations to Steve Miller, ACHAA General Manager/M&G NSW’s Aboriginal Programs Manager, and Melissa Abraham, M&G NSW’s Aboriginal Programs Coordinator, on organising such a successful conference.
