Port Macquarie Museum

The award winning Port Macquarie Museum tells the stories of those who have come before us and what makes Port Macquarie special. Home to the Birpai People, Port Macquarie was once a British penal settlement, and is now a thriving city and popular tourist and sea-change destination on the Mid North Coast of NSW.

The Port Macquarie Museum has been sharing Port Macquarie’s stories since 1957.

In 2023 the Port Macquarie Museum established the Mid North Coast Regional Digitisation Hub with funding from the NSW Government’s Creative Capital Minor Works Program. The Hub supports museums and collecting institutions across the Mid North Coast region of NSW to digitise their collections to sector standards and share collection items and their stories online.
