Douglas Vale Historic Homestead & Vineyard

Stroll back in time as you enter through our heritage listed bamboo grove.

Set in over 3 hectares Douglas Vale Vineyard was initially established in 1859 with the homestead, the oldest timber building in Port Macquarie, being built in 1862. It was lived in for 132 years by four generations of the one family and is filled with original and eclectic items from that family.

As well as the homestead museum the property includes many outbuildings, the vineyard, an orchard, vegetable and cottage gardens with a number of exotic trees that were planted over 150 years ago.

It was one of the first commercial vineyards on the NSW north coast and won medals at European wine shows. Now producing three grape varieties, Black Isabella, from original cuttings dating back to 1863, Villard Blanc and Chambourcin. Enjoy a free tasting or for purchase exclusively at the cellar door, are 2 white wines, a rose, 2 reds and the famous Isabella Port.

Cheese platters are available or picnic in the grounds. Plants for sale. Devonshire tea’s or lunch can be arranged for group bookings. Available for weddings or functions with plenty of off street parking.

This unique property is run completely by volunteers.
