Government funding cuts, the rise of not-for-profits, crowd sourced funding, a focus on cultural industries and social media have given rise to new power dynamics between arts organisations, governments, funders and audiences. Around the world Arts organisations big and small are changing the way they do business beginning at the ‘top’. So what skills are needed to be a leader in the arts? What are the organisational models that respond positively to balancing creative vision with business acumen? This seminar looks at the challenges of leadership in contemporary arts organisations and asks the question: what is needed for successful leadership in the Arts?
