A number of exciting new part time and casual positions have become available as we edge closer to the opening of the new Yarrila Arts and Museum (YAM). As a Visitor Experience Officer, you will be the first point of contact in providing the Coffs Harbour community with a positive visitor experience and promote the new gallery and museum cultural facilities at YAM. This role will suit an engaging, customer focused individual who would be excited to join the team and be part of the journey to Yarrila Place.
About the role
Reporting to the Service Leader Museum and Gallery, the YAM Visitor Experience Officer will assist in and support the delivery of Museum and Gallery services to the community, and provide a positive visitor experience at various touchpoints throughout the facility.
You will be the first point of contact in providing the Coffs Harbour community with a positive visitor experience and promote the new gallery and museum cultural facilities at YAM. This role will suit an engaging, customer focused individual who would be excited to join the team and be part of the journey to Yarrila Place.
You will be required to:
Provide exceptional customer service and complete administrative tasks at the YAM service desk
Assist with a range of duties relating to Museum and Gallery public programs, events and exhibitions
Facilitate a positive retail experience at the Yarrila Arts and Museum retail shop including start-up and end-of-day procedures and reconciliations
Our ideal candidate will be a positive team player and have significant customer service and communication skills within the cultural sector with the ability to tailor their interactions with various diversity groups within the community. A minimum of a Certificate III in a relevant field is required for this role. Demonstrated knowledge of Gumbaynggirr culture and language or demonstrated fluency in a language other than English would be desirable.
To succeed in this role you will have demonstrated digital literacy skills in MS Office, internet search skills, and a range of online platforms. This role will require you to work across a 7 day rotating roster to cover core hours and days of business, and also to work at any of the Coffs Harbour City Council locations as directed.

Salary and Opportunities
Starting base rate of $31.82 per hour (plus super and 25% loading for casual roles)
We currently have the following opportunities available:
– 2 x Permanent Part Time roles (24.5 Hours per week)
– 1 x Permanent Part Time role (28 Hours per week)
– 1 x Casual role
All other conditions of employment will be in accordance with Council’s Enterprise Agreement and the NSW Local Government (State) Awards.
