About the role
The Senior Curator Museum and Gallery is a key role within our Cultural Services team as part of the Community Programs Section, delivers on a variety of community programs, venues and services with the aim to meet the MyCoffs community strategic vision of a connected, sustainable and thriving community.
The successful candidate, will be a visionary; curating stimulating, high quality exhibitions and collections that will heighten visitor experience for our local and regional communities and tourists.
Work collaboratively and provide curatorial leadership for Yarilla Arts & Museum (YAM), actively seeking partnerships with other museums and galleries, collecting organisations, community groups, artists, and cultural entities.
The successful applicant will play a key role in the successful transition into Yarrila Arts and Museum (YAM) at Yarilla Place. Key responsibilities include:
Curate engaging, stimulating, high quality exhibitions and collections aimed at ensuring the best possible visitor experience for locals, regional communities and tourists.
Manage temporary and touring exhibition schedules for the museum and gallery that are broad-based, diverse and innovative
Develop and curate the museum and gallery collections to ensure quality and value to the community.
Develop, implement and maintain curatorial and collection management best practice and sustainable processes
Undertake collection acquisitions and document processes, in accordance with policies, procedures, government guidelines and industry best practice.
What attributes does a Senior Curator demonstrate?
High level of interpersonal skills, professional values and technical skills relating to curatorial practice.
A genuine passion for history, art, cultural and heritage collections.
Demonstrated knowledge of legislative requirements and industry standards relating to museums and galleries.

Starting salary $83,900+ Super
Permanent Full Time 35 hours per week

What are the essentials?
Degree in History, Visual Arts or Arts Administration OR Equivalent
Extensive experience in museum or gallery curation and administration, including knowledge of contemporary cultural collection practices.
Significant demonstrated experience in research, and developing and curating exhibitions and collections, and producing related publications and information resources.
Current C Class drivers Licence
Other Requirements In this role you will be required at times to work after hours or on weekends. As such, the ability to work flexible hours is an inherent requirement of the role.
