We are Australia's contemporary museum for excellence and innovation in applied arts and sciences. We are uniquely placed to demonstrate how technology, engineering, science and design impact Australia and the world.

With a unique collection, iconic venues, and the ability to engage audiences of all ages, we balance the management of our assets and collections with a public responsibility to build knowledge and engagement. We achieve our goals through four strategic ambitions: Curiosity, Creativity, Collaboration, and Sustainability. These ambitions are interdependent; and we value and foster a whole-of-organisation approach to our work.

The NSW Government is working with the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS) to build a truly iconic museum in Western Sydney. Planning will examine the possibility of an arts and cultural space in Ultimo that considers keeping some MAAS presence at the current Powerhouse Museum site. This represents a once in a generation opportunity to develop a twenty first century museum that responds to growth, and the changing shape of Sydney, and to contemporary methods of content delivery, learning and collaboration.

Museums & Galleries of NSW helps small-medium museums, galleries and Aboriginal cultural centres create exciting experiences for visitors and, through this, thriving local NSW communities. We don't run museums, galleries and cultural centres but we care about those who do. We develop their skills, connect them with others in the industry, provide funding, point visitors their way, and give them access to ground-breaking exhibitions.

Museums & Galleries of NSW is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW.
