Museum Gallery Director

The Museum Gallery Director is responsible for the development, implementation and management of permanent and temporary exhibition spaces and initiatives which support the Murrook Culture Centre and the Worimi LALC, as a leader in the field of cultural education and programming (including exhibitions, critical writing, artistic events and performances) both for the Worimi community and for visitors to the Centre.

Role and Responsibilities’ include:

Oversee management of day to day operations in the Arts Gallery Museum and Conference space;
Recommend and develop work objectives; policies, projects and special initiatives;
Create, develop and coordinate artistic and historic exhibitions/permanent galleries and public programming with partner institutions;
Research and create plans for executing exhibits, interpretation and other supporting content;
Recruit, supervise, train and mentor staff;
Maintain professional policies and procedures necessary to meet appropriate standards;
Ensure proper development, storage, documentation and preservation of Cultural Centre collections;
Identify and liaise with key contacts, organisations which could assist with meeting cultural and special interest programming objectives;
Attend events and special programming to grow relationships and networks with other Museums and Art Galleries and like-minded organisations;
Hire and negotiate contracts with Artists;
Develop and implement fund raising proposals, grants and research opportunities;
Manage finances; including budgets, tracking expenses and revenue and financial reports;
Work with Marketing & Events Coordinator to create engaging marketing, media and social media and community engagement campaigns for exhibits and events;
Work with other business lines units to coordinate exceptional services to clients
