The Manger, Building Services oversees the smooth running of all MCA operations which extend beyond the Museum, to our Venues business and tenancy management. This role will be suited to a building services professional experienced in complex operations and heritage premises with a resourceful and customer focused approach. The MCA is seeking to build on its ethos of sustainability in the management of its building resources, and the Manager, Building Services will be a driver of this.

Overview of the position
Reporting to the Director, Finance and Corporate Services, the Manager, Building Services is responsible for the management and smooth operation of the MCA building and services. This position manages all aspects of building maintenance expenditure, budgets and tracking of assets for both the main site at Circular Quay and an offsite Art Storage facility. The position is required to identify, scope, plan and budget for all building services and planned maintenance including site safety and building standards within a public building.
The position directly impacts on the overall coordination of the Museum’s activities and is responsible for service areas across the organisation including humidity control and building security via contractors. The Manager, Building Services provides consistent, clear and timely communication internally and externally regarding building services, planned maintenance or changes to routine operations. The position maintains and monitors budgets, provides monthly reporting, manages contractors and ensures relevant records relating to building and planned maintenance, essential services and asset management are maintained.
The role plays a major risk management role to ensure the Museum complies with Fire Services & compliance, Work Health and Safety standards for staff, visitors, contractors and tenants, as well as various legislative requirements, building codes and Australian Standards. The Manager, Building Services ensures that environmentally sustainable practices are considered and/or implemented as normal procedure over all aspects of building maintenance and operations.
The position provides advice and development of relevant policies relating to MCA building and services that contribute to the MCA’s overall vision and objectives.
