Australia’s longest-running independent, artist-led initiative, and is governed by a rotating
board of artists, curators, writers and arts leaders. The organisation fosters ambitious practices,

contribute to local and global discourses. Located in Woolloomooloo, on the lands of the Gadigal

About the position
Firstdraft is looking for a passionate arts advocate to join the team in a key leadership role as
General Manager. The General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and overall
management of Firstdraft, ensuring the delivery of the organisation’s strategic aims and vision.
Leading the small team of staff and reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager
provides strategic leadership, management expertise, and financial oversight of the organisation.
This position is suited to someone with highly developed arts administrative skills and the
ability to manage a small arts organisation. The ideal candidate will understand the vital role
that Firstdraft plays within the local and national arts ecology, and be committed to ensuring
the sustainability of the organisation. This position is ideal for someone looking to take the next
step in their career by guiding one of Australia’s leading independent not-for-profit visual arts
