Gallery & Retail Manager

Bring your exceptional customer service skills and experience to drive sales in our redesigned gallery and retail space.
This position offers significant opportunities to work with many of Australia’s leading contemporary Artists in presenting and promoting their work through the APW Gallery and a program of changing exhibitions, commission projects, online platforms, and other public events.
Australian Print Workshop Inc. (APW) is Australia’s leading independent not-for-profit arts organisation dedicated to the art of fine art printmaking and the support of contemporary Australian artists.
Established in 1981, APW has a highly respected and successful track record in fine art printing, public gallery programs and exhibitions, international projects, public and corporate commissions, education programs, and community outreach projects.
APW is recognised as a key authority on contemporary Australian printmaking. Works produced at APW have been exhibited and collected by major public Art Galleries and Museums throughout Australia and Overseas, including The British Museum (London), National Gallery of Australia and National Gallery of Victoria…. to name just a few.
Our Gertrude Street home is a hub of printmaking studios, workshops, exhibitions, and artists in residence. Our retail offering has expanded to include art books and an artist showcase of zines, limited edition artist books and other print related objects. This expansion has been introduced to assist generate income to support our programs.
This is a full-time position (Tuesday-Saturday).
You will be joining a small and committed team at Australian Print Workshop. Your primary responsibility will be ensuring a high-quality visitor and customer experience, whether it be via our Gallery and Exhibitions program, the APW Retail Space, or our online Printstore. This focus will enable you to succeed in achieving revenue targets for these business activities.
You will maintain APW’s contact database, collect data, and prepare reports on Gallery and Retail activities. Experience in a similar role will have given you relevant skills in e-commerce and stock management.
You will have experience in the careful handling, display, and storage of valuable stock. Ideally you will have an appreciation of contemporary Australian art and original fine art prints. Experience in displaying objects for public exhibition and/or sale will be highly valued.
