Galleries and Arts Administrator

The Gallery Arts Administrator will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the gallery’s exhibitions, liaising with artists, contracts, and providing high-level administrative and material support for galleries operations. The incumbent will work under the broad direction of the Art Curator (Manager), University Galleries (University Gallery & Watt Space, Senta Taft Hendry Museum and Art Collection).

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide administrative and arts management support for galleries operations, including web publishing, media management, diary management, purchasing and expense administration, advertising, and written and design communications, and data and logistics management of the University Galleries and Art Collection.
• Contribute to the Galleries events calendar, exhibition and collection management activities, key projects and process improvements as required by the Art Curator.
• Provide a quality, customer-focused service to stakeholders including the University’s academic and professional staff, external partners and sponsors, and all visitors to the gallery.
• Support stakeholder engagement and communication, event and programmes coordination, and collection management.

This continuing position is full time at a HEW 5 Higher Education Level and will be across City and Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land)

About the Unit
The University Galleries includes the University Gallery at the Callaghan Campus and Watt Space Gallery in the City campus. The Senta Taft Hendry Museum is a keeping place has significant holdings of Oceanic and Australian cultural material. The University Art Collection holds around 3000 artworks and objects and is a significant asset for the University and the National Cultural material that is held in perpetuity for the region and the nation. The University Art Collection is a public collection with these assets managed by the University Galleries – it accepts donations and acquires works under the provision of the University Collection Policy.
Both the University Gallery and Watt Space Gallery present curated exhibitions and touring shows that facilitate an awareness of contemporary art, artists, communities and disciplines as well as presenting special projects in collaboration with community partners. The Galleries also support and promotes local and emerging artists through our exhibition program and support students, colleges and divisions through the presentation of research including Non-Traditional Research Outputs.
The University Galleries instigate community engagement and provide a platform for the public to engage with the University through a diverse and active exhibition calendar, and tailored public programs that target audiences within the university community and our region and have a national and global reach.
