Front of House Retail Sales Assistant
As the Museum prepares for a busy few months, we are looking for TWO energetic people to join our Front of House Operational Team who work at the Museum and at off-site events. If you think this is you, please review the position description and apply today!
Position Description:
A Museum of Fire Retail Sales Assistant will assist in day-to-day Museum operations, specifically but not limited to the running of the Museum (e.g., ensuring displays are operational), shop sales and assisting visitors. They should provide a high quality of customer service to assist in the Museum’s growth and development.
Tasks expected of this position are (but not limited to the following):
• Operate the Museum’s front of house activities (i.e., sales through register, customer engagement and assistance).
• Assist the Operations manager in receiving, organising, and storing stock.
• Assist with retrieving, packing, and despatching sales orders.
• Answer customer inquiries either in person or via phone when applicable.
• Transfer inquiries to the suitable staff member when applicable.
• OR ensure phone messages are received to a high quality and provided to the necessary staff members
• Assist in regular audits of stock.
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Museum’s operations and items sold in the shop.
• Assist in opening the Museum and turning on displays each morning.
• Ensure the building, grounds and displays are secured at the end of the day prior to leaving.
• Assist in special event or exhibition days when other duties may be required of the individual
• Ensure the Museum is presentable and COVID Safe by performing cleaning tasks
• Have a complete knowledge of the Museum’s COVID Safe policies and practices.
• Participate in guiding and educational activities when necessary. This may include overseeing visiting groups such as vacation care and hosting guided tours.

• Available to work weekends and school holidays, unless otherwise employed or rostered
