Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Business Partner will be responsible for working alongside internal stakeholders to provide financial information, financial analysis, and insights to assist the MCA achieve key business and strategic outcomes.
The Finance Business Partner will be responsible for the planning and analysis of the MCA’s operating budgets and will provide visibility of financial performance. The position will lead the coordination and preparation of the annual budget, quarterly forecast, business case development and costings, and the monthly financial reporting and support.
This role will promote accountability and build financial management capability via a business partnering model with MCA stakeholders.
Tasks and responsibilities of the position
- Support the Chief Financial Officer with the Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting process.
- Partner with the Divisional management (directors, senior managers) to
- prepare budgets and forecasts based on operating plans
- analysis of revenue and expenditure to provide insights and recommendations on performance and cost efficiency
- develop key metrics as forward indicators for revenue forecasting
- report on divisional financial KPIs.
- Assist with the design of new financial management reporting (including automation)
- Partner with Divisions to prepare business cases for:
- investments (capital, business improvement and strategic)
- funding application to Government grants, sponsorship or donations for Trust and Foundation.
- As well as prepare post implementation review and tracking of benefits (including grant acquittals).
- Transfer knowledge regarding financial business drivers to cost centre managers.
- Be a champion for driving change and putting new processes in place.
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer with the annual audit.
Key selection criteria
Essential criteria
Applicants must be able to demonstrate they have:
- strong skills and expertise in financial management, financial reporting and excel
- relevant tertiary qualifications (CPA or CA qualification or part qualified)
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- strong business acumen with the ability to analyse, interpret and utilise financial data to improve organisational performance
- an understanding of funding models and services
- the ability to develop and meet operational and budgetary objectives
- the ability to develop collaborative working relationships with stakeholders
- well-developed communication skills for working with a wide range of stakeholders.
