The regions only Aboriginal art gallery, dedicated to local first nations artists who live, work or connect to the Border/North East region.
Our footprint borders the Indigenous nations of Dhuduroha, Yaithmathang, Bangarang, Wiradjuri, Yorta Yorta & Wavaroo and encompasses the local government areas of AlburyCity, Greater Hume, Federation, City of Wodonga, Indigo & Towong.

We are located in the shopfront of the Murray Arts office on the Lincoln Cause way, Gateway Island, Wodonga, VIC. burraja gallery is fully auspiced by Murray Arts Inc.

burraja gallery was established in July 2016 and set up as a social enterprise. A percentage of the commission taken on all artwork sold through the gallery & shop goes towards the education program at the Burraja Indigenous Cultural and Environmental Discovery Centre, also located on Gateway Island, Wodonga, VIC.

Funding was secured for the inaugural Emerging Aboriginal Arts Curator position in 2017, thanks to the Create NSW Creative Koori employment fund. Bethany Thornber (Wiradjuri) commenced in the position October 2017 and has initiated a renovation of the gallery space, as well as the introduction of the annual exhibition program. In 2018 burraja gallery achieved an increase of 173% in total sales, compared to 2017 figures. burraja gallery has cemented its place in the local arts & cultural landscape. We advocate for all Aboriginal artists who live, work or connect locally, and provide an opportunity for dialogue and connection between the wider community and our Aboriginal community. Our modern and light exhibition space showcases the diversity of local contemporary Aboriginal art.
