The National Trust (NSW) is seeking a casual (3 days per month) enthusiastic, community focused Coordinator for Woodford Academy. Working with the Woodford Academy Management Committee (WAMC), this new role will ensure a safe, professional and consistent delivery of operations and continue to bring to life one of oldest complex of colonial buildings in the Blue Mountains. They are also the first point of contact for interactions between the National Trust Centre (NTC) and the WAMC, providing them with guidance and support.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Deputy CEO you will be responsible for:

• Operational activities and working with volunteers to deliver strategies that generate increased visitation and build commercial opportunities of the property
• Coordinating the volunteer team to manage the property including training, guiding, and rostering to ensure the property is presented professionally and with a focus on customer service
• Working with the volunteer group to ensure the educational programs are resourced and delivered to school and other community groups
• Building relationships and work collaboratively with other cultural, government and community groups in the Blue Mountains region
• Ensuring the property and collection are managed in accordance with the Conservation Management Plan, Trust policies and other relevant legislation
• Preparing Property performance reports (financial, visitation, personnel, maintenance and interpretive issues) to management as required
• Overseeing the delivery of public programming, major exhibitions / events and curatorial activities at the property to generate income, in collaboration with WAMC and staff from the NTC
• Coordinating the overall operations of the property including maintenance, retail, contractors and compliance are managed in accordance with relevant legislation including WH+S
• Act as first point of contact for security and other emergency matters should they arise.

About you

You will be someone who is flexible, customer focused and can turn a hand to the essential duties of operating a historic property that is open to the public. You will have experience working with communities and volunteer networks, be passionate about educational and cultural services and appreciate the tasks required in conserving and bringing to life historic properties.
Additionally you will have the following:
• Passion for sharing stories of the past in order to preserve heritage for the future
• Commercial acumen with experience in finance and administration
• Understanding of governance and risk management
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills
• Demonstrated experience in the management of time, staff and volunteers
• Commitment to heritage/conservation
• Class C driver’s license and a willingness to travel to the National Trust Centre (NTC) Observatory Hill on occasion
• Current NSW Working with Children Check number (WWCC)
