Overview of the Division
The Curatorial and Digital Division is one of four divisions at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA). The purpose of the Curatorial and Digital Division is to initiate, develop and deliver the presentation and care of artworks and the ideas they generate, respecting the centrality of artists and art in those processes. Members of the Curatorial and Digital Division collaborate to conceive, research and deliver the MCA’s exhibitions, offsite projects, commissions, displays, exhibition and collection publications and digital programs, as well as caring for, maintaining and developing the Collection that sits at the heart of the MCA’s offer. Within Curatorial and Digital, there are four clusters: Collection and Exhibitions Management, Curatorial, Publications and Digital.
Overview of the position
The primary purpose of the Assistant Editor (Publications and Digital) is to provide editorial overview to all text produced by the MCA for its online, in-gallery and print publications. This includes exhibition and collection publications, as well as online properties including mca.com.au, MCA.ART and related MCA project-specific websites. The Assistant Editor (Publications and Digital) will be responsible for ensuring the quality, relevance and accessibility of MCA text and digital content in line with the MCA Interpretation Strategy, Digital Engagement Strategy, and MCA Online Content Guide.
The Assistant Editor (Publications and Digital) will report to the Senior Editor (Publications Manager) and work closely with the curatorial team and other content producers across the Museum.
